Manitowoc Crane Group Germany GmbH
We used to write the risk assessments for the cranes ourselves. This was a rather unpopular task that took up a lot of time, because we are not as familiar with the subject of standards as a specialist. Today, we simply interview Mr. Lauer and receive the finished text from him. We keep our heads clear for our actual job.
Jens Wessels,
Technical Project Manager, Manitowoc Crane Group Germany GmbH
Mobile cranes are developed and manufactured at the German site in Wilhelmshaven of the American Manitowoc Group. More than one hundred specialized engineers are constantly working on the design of new types of the Grove brand. The cranes with two to seven axles and a maximum lifting capacity of 35 to 450 tons are sold worldwide.
R. Schlarmann: “Our people are sought-after engineers who specialise in crane design. It is important to me that they devote their time to this core competence. That’s why I’m always looking for suppliers and service providers who keep our engineers free of anything that distracts them from their core business. There is something else. Of course, our people are basically familiar with the standards. But the constant training effort to keep everyone up to date would simply be uneconomical with over a hundred engineers. In Mr. Lauer, we have found an excellent expert for all questions concerning the important subject of standards and risk assessments, who relieves us noticeably and reliably.
What I particularly appreciate about Mr Lauer? He is able to differentiate well in the application of the standards and focuses on what is economically feasible for us. He takes our perspective and finds pragmatic solutions within the framework of the applicable standards. He and his people quickly got into our technical specialty and ensure that our processes are smooth and seamless. The cooperation is shaping up exactly as I would like it to and we intend to continue it permanently. I can unreservedly recommend Lauer CE-Safety GmbH as an external service provider for all issues concerning standards and risk assessment.”

Renke Schlarmann is construction manager at the Manitowoc Crane Group Germany GmbH. He had already got to know and appreciate the support of Lauer CE-Safety GmbH at his former employer in 2001. When he moved to Manitowoc Crane Group Germany in 2013, he therefore recommended outsourcing risk assessments to proven hands.
