There is an updated version of DIN EN 619 "Continuous conveyors and systems - Safety requirements for mechanical conveying equipment for unit loads". This important basic norm from the field of conveyor technology secures the application in the long term.
Excerpt of the amendments:
- Crushing and shearing hazards from moving loads with forces greater than 150 N must be explicitly eliminated by protective measures;
- Adaptation of the standard to CEN Guide 414:2017;
- Extension of the scope: telescopic conveyors, sorters, vertical switch conveyors, check-in conveyors, baggage reclaim conveyors, rail-floor conveyors;
- Prevention of access via load entry/exit points depending on the different areas;
- Noise abatement requirements and determination of noise measurement methods;
- mproved determination of compliance with safety requirements and/or measures;
- Safety requirements/measures for each type of continuous conveyor have been described in more detail.
